Down Under in Perth

From Syndey, we flew to the west coast of Australia to Perth and saw the Indian Ocean. Our first day, we took a taxi out to a little seaside town called Fremantle, "Freebo".

We had breakfast at a little bakery/cafe and it was so delicious that we went back for lunch.

There was a lovely playground in the middle of a group of huge trees next to the marina so we let Grayson run around for a while. The slide, of course, was his favorite.

We took a nice walk along the docks before we headed to the markets.

On weekends only since the 1800s, there is a huge farmers market-type event with over 100 vendors. We were luck enough to catch it on a Sunday afternoon.

We found some great Christmas gifts, but I can't get into that for obvious reasons.

We also got to see the town square which was full of charming historical buildings and..

churches too.

We also got to see the Maritime Museum.

There was a lot to learn about the Dutch East India Trading company and how they impacted the Aussies.

There was a rugby field near by. I was surprised to see how small it was compared to our football stadiums.

We got a glimpse of the Fremantle prision before heading back to Perth. The convicts actually built their own prison before helping to build the rest of the colony, and their cells where only large enough to stand up and lay down in.
