So, our last week before Michael starts work started off with him getting a fresh hair cut. We had some command function to go to and he wanted to look presentable. Keep in mind that I begged him many, many times to get his hair cut in Jax before we left so it would be one less thing we needed to worry about when getting here. When he got home, all I could do was laugh. Grayson has more hair now than he does. Apparently, Michael forgot that they use a different measurement system over here and told the lady to buzz his head by mistake.
Oh well, at least boy hair grows back quick.
He is definately fitting in with the Marines around here.
Grayson is continuing to enjoy the parks around here. We found a second playground not far from the house. He has mastered pushing himself off to go down the slide. Now, the dare-devil that he is, he wants to go down backward.
We are also in a phase where it is very cool to fit inside things so the tunnels are fun too.
I think we are starting to leave our mark on Okinawa.....
We still haven't gotten our carpet for the house yet, so in an effort to keep Grayson safe with all the half unpacked boxes and mess laying around, we set up a fort in the living room. It's actually his little sun tent for the beach, but it's pretty neat to spy on the dogs when you think they can't see you.
We'd been here over a week and Michael hadn't had any french fries yet. He was in withdrawl so we went to an old familar.... Mickey D's. This fasts food restaurant was the most efficient I'd ever seen. The staff was all female. They wore knee-length skirts and low high-heels with their uniform. Our tray was arrange in a very neat order with everything in its place. Even the Big Mac looked perfect...no lettuce falling out or sauce dripping. And to top it all off, they gave you liquid sugar for your ice tea.
With Lent upon us, no meat on Fridays so our sponsor took us to the Seaside Inn for dinner. It had a pretty view of the marina and some tiny islands around the shore. From our table we could even see part of the city lit up once it got dark.
Today we did brunch at the enlisted club here, which we think is nicer than the O club. Apparently there isn't much difference in your perks with officers vs enlisted here. You can go to each others' clubs, and the E's even have the newer housing with a view of the flightline and the ocean and covered parking, which we don't have. Ok, I'm not complaining, I just find it really interesting. Anyway, there are gambling rooms with slot machines everywhere you go here which I also thought was very interesting. Maybe Grayson will win the big one for us next weekend. Until then, love you all.
