July is a special month in our house. Michael and I met on July 1, 2002. A few days later, we had a picnic in the park on 4th of July, and that night we stayed up all night to watch the sun come up - the first of many nights together. Fast forward three years later, on July 9th we got married. And to make July even more special, both of our boys were conceived in July as well.
We started off this July with America Fest on July 1. It's a nice little festival on base where the family can tour different planes. There is a kiddieland with rides, carni games, food and bands.
While Gray was captivated with the planes, B liked the fire truck.
He got to hold the hose, although he wasn't sure why this guy had to be in his picture.
B is all boy and all about trucks!
Even though we've seen it many times before, we had to stop at the mightly P-3 Orion, daddy's plane!
Grayson thinks it is so cool that his daddy flies one of the BIG planes!
We went up to try the controls twice before he was satisfied.
Michael captured this picture. Gray was so excited to see a F-18 Hornet take off on the adjacent runway. Boys!

Grayson thought it was so fun to wear foamies, just like pilots, he didn't want to take them out!
Saturday, we ran a 5K and went to the pool. I don't have pictures of either because we were trying to keep the weight down in the stroller for the run, and although I did bring the camera to the pool, the boys just would't stay put long enough for one of us to get out of the water to get it.
I am happy to report that Grayson is making big strides in learning to swim. He only wants to be in the big pool, and will kick and paddle and even put his face in the water the whole time. B is happy to jump from the side and play motor boat.
The rest of our weekend consisted of watching fireworks from our backyard, relaxing with movies, church, more pool, grilling, and my latest dabbles in the kitchen with red, white, and blue food.

And the thing I am most excited about. I am calling it FLAG cake. Looks like any old cake from the outside, but when you cut..... there is a flag inside!
It was great to have some quality family time this weekend. I'm looking forward to our anniversary next weekend. Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Love the cake!!!! That is awesome. I also love the pic of grayson where he is so excited about the plan taking off. Sounds like you all had a wonderful weekend. Miss and love you all!
